You are the Architect of Your Life !

You can Improve every part of your Life  with your Thoughts! Or  you can destroy your Life with your thoughts. It’s important to remember that you have the power to create the Physical and Emotional Health that you desire by paying attention to your Thoughts. Your Thoughts are very powerful! I have always believed that you can change your Life by becoming aware of your thoughts, embracing Positive Thoughts and letting go of the Negative ones. And although it is true that you can’t control everything that happens to you, you can control your reaction to it. And that has an impact on your Health and Well Being.

Recently I have been reading a Book by Dr Caroline Leaf called “Switch on your Brain” and I wanted to share with you some of the information that I thought was fascinating.
The Book refers to the Mind Body Connection and how our thoughts directly affect our Physical Well Being.

~ Research shows that 75-98% of mental , physical and behavioral health comes from one’s thought life.
~ DNA actually changes shape according to our thoughts.
~ Research* shows that thinking and feeling anger, fear and frustration caused DNA to change shape.
~ Due to our thoughts and feelings the DNA responded by tightening up and becoming shorter, and switching off DNA codes which reduced the Quality of Expression.

“Quality of Expression” means how well our DNA does what it’s supposed to do and relates to which genes are turned on and off and how they well they work. All of that, in part, depends on our thoughts…   So when we say we feel shut down by Negative Emotions it kind of makes sense.
~ Negative Thoughts lead to Stress which affects the Body’s ability to Heal itself.
~ This can all be reversed by Positive Thoughts of Love, Joy and Gratitude.Becoming aware of our Negative Thoughts is the first step.  When you become aware of a Negative Thought, ask yourself if you can let go of it or reframe it. Sometimes looking for the Positive in any situation helps. Remembering things that you cause you to feel gratitude can also help you change that Negative pattern of thinking.  It’s very important to notice when you are engaging in Negative Self Talk or holding onto Negative feelings.  Just tell yourself to “Stop” and think of something that makes you happy or engage in Positive Self Talk…whether you believe it 100% or not. Positive Self Talk can be something simple  like thinking ” Everything is OK, everything is Fine.”  or  ” I am thankful for all of my Blessings.”  Positive Self Talk is very Powerful! And remember that giving Negative Energy to any situation, never helps and it can make you sick in both Mind and Body.

This also relates to messages that we give to ourselves… like…” I’m not very Sensuous.” Thinking of yourself as a Sensuous Person is all it takes to begin  to change that mindset…

My overall Favorite Essential Oil so far is Frankincense

I use it to prevent wrinkles… Put a drop in the palm of your hand and then rub hands together in a counter clockwise circle and then press your hands into your face.

It smells really nice and is somehow intoxicating. I have read that Frankincense helps with meditation and connecting to your Inner Wisdom. I would have to agree that it is spiritually uplifting. It was once more valuable than gold and has been called “The Wise Man’s Cure”

I loved it so much that I ran out of it before I realized that it was gone. It really does last a long time if you use it wisely and don’t give too much of it away. lol  I’m getting ready to order more.

 Being your own Sensuous Life Coach means that you work toward discovering, defining, and creating the life that you want. You do this by listening to your Inner Wisdom, and doing what she says. First let’s define the words Inner Wisdom and Sensuous Self.          

Inner Wisdom …    

Your Inner Wisdom can be defined in many ways. It’s often called that“still small voice” . . . but I think of it as a quiet, and confident voice that is inside . . . that suggests that you might want to exercise . . . or perhaps it’s that part of you that makes good choices to help you stay healthy, both mentally and physically. You define what Inner Wisdom means to you. Your Inner Wisdom could be called, at least in part, your Inner Life Coach. Pay attention to messages from your Inner Life Coach if you want to make changes in your life. You can look at this part of yourself in any way that you want, but it is the Best Version of You.        

Sensuous Self . . .
    
Connecting to your senses with Awareness is what the Sensuous Self is all about. Your Sensuous Self is the sensitive, passionate person that you are underneath it all. . . . Paying attention to the input from your senses of sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing, hunger, thirst, balance, and pain is what keeps you in touch with your Sensuous Self.     Think about the excitement that young children have when seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, or smelling something new. They seem to use their whole body, and all of their senses to experience life. We used to do that too!     You can reconnect with your ability to experience the world around you by becoming aware of the input from your senses. Your  brain processes all of the input from your senses. Increased awareness of your senses can be the fuel you need to fire up your passion. This increased awareness can be learned, or more correctly, you can remember it. Learning to reconnect with your Sensuous Self is an important part of becoming the passionate, sexy, sensuous person that you want to be.

10 Sensuous Things To Do Every Day

Eat beautiful food and drink pure water
Be aware of your thoughts, words and actions  (Are they in line with the person you want to be?)

Go out in the Rain and get Wet!

wpid-Rain.jpgGo out in the Rain and get Wet! On a warm Summer night, when it’s Raining … figure out a way to get out in Rain as naked as possible. It’s especially fun if you do this when it is Raining very hard. So the next time you hear a hard Rain, run outside so you don’t miss it. (Don’t go out in a thunder and lightning storm …of course.) Once you are outside remove all remaining clothes…if possible Then, as you are standing in Nature’s Shower run your hands all over your body to enjoy how silky your skin feels covered in raindrops. After the hard Rain slows down, find a comfortable place to sit. Spend some time becoming aware of how Nature enjoys the Rain. Notice how the rain drops hit the petals of a flower or fall onto leaves and gently masssages them. Breathe in the cooler, cleaner air and feel the overall “vibe” that surrounds you. . You can almost see the plants growing as the rain washes over them. You may notice that Colors are brighter and more vibrant. When the Rain stops you may become aware of  how calm and peaceful it feels. The world seems more relaxed and pure. It’s as if the plants and flowers are relaxing after their wild Sensuous experience with the Rain. When you are finished with your wild naked experience with the Rain, run into the house and turn on a Hot Shower. Climb into the shower as soon as it’s warm or for a different Sensuous experience just get into it when you first turn it on… As the shower washes over you can feel the heat of it pouring into your body. Use your favorite body products that are fragrant with natural flower essences. Stay as long as you like enjoying your shower, then wrap yourself up in a big fluffy towel or robe. Have a hot cup of tea and sit in a Sensuous Space and make a few notes in  your journal about your Sensuous Experience. You may also want to make a note of any messages that you may have recieved from your Inner Wisdom. Be sure to take advantage of hard Rain whenever you can to enjoy another Sensuous Experience with Nature.

I learned how to walk (mindfully) at Omega Institute for Holistic Studies!    

I’m just getting back to the real world after a week of R&R at Omega Institute in Reinbeck NY. Omega is a place that I refer to as Yoga Camp.  For me, it is a place to rejuvenate my Yoga practice, and reconnect with my Inner Wisdom and Sensuous Self. . . . But it’s a whole lot more.  It’s a beautiful place in the country with a Peaceful Lake and great Vegetarian food.  And, of course there are lots of wonderful people that you meet along the way . . . including the excellent staff, and the other guests that you meet at mealtimes, in workshops, at the café, or just walking along the path next to the mountain stream that runs through the campus. . . . The overall relaxed feeling that surrounds you,    helps you let go of stress.  

 At Omega, there are all kinds of workshops related to being Creative, Mindful, and Healthy in Body, Mind, and Spirit.  Omega is also very involved with innovations to help us become more aware of how to help our planet be more Healthy.  This week, they had a Permaculture Workshop with Andrew Faust, which related to Sustainability and the Health of the World. I enjoyed the tour of the Omega Center for Sustainable Living.  

 The things I liked best at Omega:

~ Yoga Class . . .  with Kayla Valentino, “a passionate Yoga Instructor who focuses on self-love and the sacred union of body, mind, and soul.”  * I thought that she was gentle and used lots of beautiful, encouraging words during the practice about self-love and nurturing… My most favorite Yoga Class I’ve had in a long time.  

~ Walking Meditation . . . Learning how to walk (mindfully) with Craig, the visiting Zen Guy.  As I walked behind him, I realized how difficult it was for me to walk slowly. . . . I heard messages from my feet, and gained an understanding that I need to slow down a bit to stay grounded.  

~ Walking the Labyrinth . . . Learning how to walk (mindfully) with an elephant walk was taught to me by Christina Zaccheo, R&R Coordinator. . . . She explained several philosophies about Walking the Labyrinth . . . and then she walked it with me.  

~ Playtime with Howard Moody was probably my most favorite activity. . . . He said that children laugh 400 times a day, and adults only laugh 15 times a day. . . . He proceeded to make us laugh 400 times an hour. It’s all about Creative play that Adults can really get into . . . it’s very hard to explain. You will reconnect with your Playful Self with Howard, who knows how to play, and makes it easy for you to let your playful self come out to play. . . .  His playful Spirit will inspire you…  

~ Group discussion on Signs, Symbols, Archetypes, Numerology, etc. . . . led by Marcy Currier. This group somehow evolved into finding insights into how we feel about our Names. Spending time thinking back on what our Names meant to us throughout of lives and sharing this with the group,  brought us all closer together as each of us gained new insights into this powerful word which is our Name.  We also discussed thoughts on Numerology, and how to remember names . . . which I needed!  I will never forget the names of my new friends that I met in that group!  Lori, Kelly, Rick, and Marcy.  

  ( Also won’t forget you Kim…1st person I met at Omega … I will be reading your Book called “Kicked out of the Garden”)  

~ Shamanistic Sound Medicine Experience with Rich Goodheart was amazing. He talked about the sound of our own name…  another theme for me this week . . . . I got up and sang my name…Very scary and liberating.  He also created a concert within a Workshop.  We had our eyes closed throughout the performance, and I was sure that he brought in several people to help him with the music which was quite complex and beautiful.  

Other Fun Things at Omega …

~ The Garden was beautifully designed and had been given lots of attention. A lush blooming Cherry Tree was the centerpiece of the Garden.  The Raised Beds and overall Sensuous Design inspired me to start planning new things to incorporate into my Gardens.  

~ The food was wonderful, colorful and Healthy and I really enjoyed having someone else cook!  I was also inspired to add new things to my Menus at home…The food was Vegetarian mostly. . . .  

~ The cafe overlooking the stream was a beautiful place to listen to music by Rich, and talk with new friends (David, Kelly and Martha) … And of course I have to mention the exotic teas, and other Sensuous, Edible Things . . . like Dragoba Dark Chocolate with Chilis, or Dark Chocolate with Lavender and Blueberry.  

~ The Wellness Center… Has Endless Sensuous Experiences… Massage is always a great option, and I loved my AMMA Massage with Elise.    

The most important thing to remember about Omega is to try to take the “relaxed you” from Omega, and integrate yourself back into the World, staying connected to your Inner Wisdom and Sensuous Self.    I highly recommend this experience to anyone who needs to Relax, have Fun, and get  Healthier.  

 I will be back next year for a Workshop or R&R. . . . I’m also planning to finish my book, “Be Your Own Sensuous Life Coach,” by early 2015, and then applying to Omega . . . To do my Workshop called “Be Your Own Sensuous Life Coach” in 2016!    

For a Memorable Experience, I recommend that you Go To Omega Institute As Soon As possible. . . . you will be happy that you did!

A Sensuous Woman stays connected to her Inner Wisdom through Empathy

    Empathy, or “being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, and understanding how they feel” is an important part of staying connected to your Inner Wisdom and Sensuous Self. Understanding how another person feels will remind you that we are all connected. And, if we could remember that we are all connected, we would treat each other better.

      We all want the same things out of life. . . .  Okay, not all of the same things, but there are many things that everyone wants. Health, happiness, and a sense of connectedness are just a few of these things.

     Empathy can improve all relationships, and it can sometimes stop your “Anger Response.”  Taking a moment to consider another person’s feelings is what your Inner Wisdom would do if you are able to stay connected to it. When you get angry, your connection to your Inner Wisdom usually flies out the window. The more you practice Empathy in everyday life, the more you will be able to use it when your emotions are running high. Every day you have endless opportunities to practice Empathy.  When you are in traffic, and someone cuts you off is a perfect time to consider Empathy as a different way to look at things. That person is probably frustrated, and trying to get somewhere just like you are . . . or maybe they didn’t see you, or didn’t realize that they were making you mad.

      At home, using Empathy is almost impossible when you are in the heat of an argument with someone you care about. Ask yourself, “How would the ‘person I want to be’ act?”  Then, stay true to what you believe.

      Using your connection to your Sensuous Self also improves your ability to practice Empathy. Your Senses bring you information about every situation. Using this information will improve communication with everyone, especially those you are close to. Everyone has Inner Wisdom. If you show Empathy toward another person, you may help them connect to their own Inner Wisdom or Higher Self . . . and it will definitely help you do the same. So remember . . . a Sensuous Woman stays connected to her Inner Wisdom through Empathy. Be sure to practice Empathy as often as possible. 

 

The Sensuous Woman’s Cure for Stress

THE SENSUOUS WOMAN’S CURE FOR STRESS…
GET SOME NEGATIVE IONS!

       When you are feeling overwhelmed by Life, for one reason or another . . . Go Outside, and spend time in Nature. Find a place to sit near trees and moving water, if possible. Leave your electronics inside for at least half an hour or more. Take a journal, and something to drink. I also take a pillow along so I can sit anywhere I want. Nature is outside generating Oxygen and Negative ions for you!

      Negative ions are the good ones. Negative Ions are healing, and increase the Oxygen in your brain. This increases Serotonin, alertness, and your Sense of Well Being. Look for a place with a babbling brook, or go to the Beach, or to the Mountains. Find a Nature Preserve near where you live, and go there as often as you can. These are the places where you will find tens of thousands of Negative Ions in the air. A spring thunderstorm also creates an abundance of Negative Ions.

      When you go to one of these special places, or sit outside after a thunderstorm . . . Just sit, listen, and write if you want. Breathe in deeply and slowly, and exhale completely. Relax your eyes as you gently gaze at the water, or the natural setting that surrounds you. If you have trouble sitting still, do 5 minutes of Yoga, or any moves you like. As you breathe in, focus on the energy-filled, clean air as it flows through you . . . and, as you breathe out, imagine that all of your stress is flowing out of your body, mind, and soul. Continue to breathe slow, long, deep breaths. This is a wonderful time to listen for messages from your Inner Wisdom. If you notice any thoughts that you want to remember, grab your journal, and make a few notes.

      When you really can’t get away . . . you can increase the Negative Ions Indoors where you live by adding plants and moving water into your environment. Create or buy a fountain, and a few houseplants to help clean the air, and generate negative ions.  You really can create an indoor green space. It’s easier than you think. I will write “How To’s” in other blog entries. 

      So the next time you are feeling stressed, remember the Sensuous Woman’s Cure for Stress …  and get some Negative Ions!   

Be the Change that you wish to see in the World!

YOU CAN CHANGE THE WORLD

It’s hard to believe sometimes, but you really do have an impact on the World. I believe that it’s one person at a time that works best.           

    SHARE KNOWLEDGE ~ If you know something that can help change someone’s life, and you have the opportunity to tell them . . . Do it!   That’s what I do for a living . . . in three different places (at this point in time)  I work with Adolescents in a Psychiatric Unit, I am a Health and Wellness Life Coach, and I’m writing a book called, “Be Your Own Sensuous Life Coach for Women Over 40” (and Younger Women who want to know stuff sooner).  

Over the years, I’ve “taken notes” on what works, and what doesn’t work.  I teach teens how to become the person they want to be, and help them work through issues that have caused them to use unhealthy, coping skills.  Teens often feel a sense of powerlessness in regards to what is happening in their world, and in the great big world as well.   They often feel that there is nothing they can do to help themselves, or anyone else.   Education is powerful.  I explain to these kids that they can learn the things that everyone needs to know about what it takes to be happy. Then, they can be a role model for their families, and, to an extent, for everyone they come in contact with.  I tell them that just like Twitter and the Internet in general, many things can go viral.  This includes really helpful information.  If they learn something that helps them be happier and they share it with someone, that is the first step toward making that knowledge go viral.  Even just being nice to someone while you are checking out at the grocery may have an impact on their day, which will help them, and possibly others they come in contact with. . . .  

I also work with Adults . . . Mostly Women in my Life Coaching business.  I teach them Health and Wellness stuff, and to make it seem like more fun, I decided to specialize in being a Sensuous Life Coach . . . which is a concept that I created because I thought that it would catch someone‘s interest and is a personal interest of mine.  My focus is, in particular,on the Woman who wants to be more in touch with her Inner Wisdom and Sensuous Self.  Since I have been a writer for a very long time, and I’m Creative and Sensuous myself, I decided that I had to write the book.  The book is meant to be Fun and Playful, and it is written with a new thought or idea on each page.  This concept is great for the busy Woman.  You can open the book anywhere, and read any page whenever you have 5 minutes.  The things that I wrote are meant to help you become the person that you want to be, and to help you change the world by working on yourself. I am hoping that you will find things in my book that will make you happier, and that you will share this information with others. This is one way that you can change the world
  So Remember, “Be the change that you wish to see in the World.”
