How to Have Excellent Self Esteem! Become “The Person You Want to Be!”

Imagine that you have a Magic Wand, and you can wave this Magic Wand and  become exactly the Person that you have always wanted to be.  Can you describe “The Person You Want to Be”?  It’s not about wishing for fame or fortune . . . or to have gorgeous hair, face, and body. . . .  It’s not really about physical things at all.  The essence of “The Person You Want to Be” includes emotional, psychological, and spiritual qualities or characteristics.
 
Step One:         
Define or describe “The Person You Want To Be.”  Open your journal to two blank pages. 
At the top of the left hand page write . . . “The Person I Don’t Want to Be” . . .
and on the top of the right hand page write . . . “The Person I Want to Be.”        
While making your lists it may help to think about people who you admire or maybe others who have characteristics that you hope you never have.  They may be family, friends, celebrities or they could even be fictional characters, from a book or a movie.  It may take you awhile to create these lists and you may need to come back to them from time to time to increase the clarity in defining “The Person You Want to be.” Here are a few examples. . . .  

“The Person I Don’t Want to Be”   
Aggressive    Mean    Passive    Selfish    Closed-minded    Rude    Greedy    Lazy    Sick       
A Person who:      
Uses Negative Self Talk      Avoids talking about Feelings      Has Low Self Esteem   

“The Person I Want to Be”     
Nice     Generous     Assertive     Open-minded     Confident     Strong     Understanding     Healthy    
A Person Who:     
Helps Others      Uses Positive Self Talk      Has High Self Esteem      Is able to talk about Feelings  

Step Two:        
After you create your Lists . . . look at them, and then ask yourself . . .  am I more like “The Person I Want to Be” or “The Person I Don’t Want to Be”?  If you look at your Life, and realize that you are behaving like “The Person You Don’t Want to Be,” you will most likely have Low Self-Esteem.  If you are making decisions, and acting like ”The Person You Want To Be” . . . You will have  High Self-Esteem.  It’s normal to feel good about yourself when you are making decisions like the Person You Want to Be!  That is the Secret to having Excellent Self-Esteem.  

Step Three:        
From the moment you wake up each morning, until you go to sleep every night, you make hundreds of decisions.  With each decision you make . . .  you head in one direction, or the other.  Each decision brings you closer to “The Person You Want to Be,” or “The Person You Don’t Want to Be.”  At first, you may have to think about your decisions to make sure that they are in line with The “Person You Want to Be.”  But one day, the decisions will just come naturally, and you will realize that you are that Person.  You need to remember that you already have the Power to become “The Person You Want to Be.”  It’s simple . . . just one decision at a time.

Sleep Naked

Sleeping Naked can make you more Sexy, Sensuous, and Healthy in several ways. Here are a few of the reasons to peel off your clothes every night before you go to bed. 
~ Your Skin . . .    Your skin will benefit by being exposed to fresh air all night. Since you will be unencumbered by clothing, you will be able to feel the sheets moving over your skin, and this improves your body awareness. As you relax, and get ready to fall asleep, you can give yourself a massage by just running your hands along the curves of your body. Explain to your Lover that you are doing a Sensuous Exercise, and becoming more in touch with your skin. If your skin feels dry, just pull back the covers, and start applying Massage Oil to your dry skin.  Massage Oil should always be within arm’s reach while you are in bed, in case someone needs an emergency massage. Close your eyes, and pay attention to how your skin feels as your apply the massage oil. Imagine that a Sensuous Massage Guy is oiling up your body. . . . You may find that your Lover will enjoy watching you, and may decide to join in.  
~ Your Sensuous Hormones . . . Melatonin and Growth Hormones . . . One of the most important things to remember when you sleep is to “Be Cool” . . . Sleeping in a dark room is essential  for increasing your Sensuous Hormones. Darkness helps your body release Melatonin, which in turn helps your body cool down while you sleep. This is important because . . . keeping your body cool promotes the release of Growth Hormones, which regenerate the body while you sleep.   According to Natasha Turner (author of the best-selling book, “The Hormone Diet”), “As your body temperature drops, Growth Hormones are released, and work their regenerative magic.” The release of these hormones keeps your skin and hair looking healthy, sensuous, and sexy.
~ Fat-Burning Hormones . . . By keeping your body cool while you sleep, you are also helping your body release Fat-Burning Hormones. When your body is cool, you sleep deeper, which in turn decreases your Cortisol level, and increases your Appetite Controlling Hormones.
~  Oxytocin . . . Another great reason to Sleep Naked is skin-to-skin contact. Skin-to-skin contact with your Lover increases Oxytocin, the feel-good hormone. Oxytocin is involved in fighting the harmful effects of cortisol, reduces blood pressure, and increases sexual response and orgasm.  
~ Your Vagina . . .  Sleeping naked lets your private parts breathe.  Okay, so your vagina won’t really be taking deep breaths, but good air flow improves it’s health and well-being.  
~ Your Lover . . .  Most men love the idea of having a naked woman in their bed. If you usually go to bed in some kind of clothing . . . it will be a fun surprise for your Lover. When you decide to Sleep Naked . . . sneak into bed without his knowing what you have planned. I’m sure that you will enjoy his response to discovering a naked woman in his bed. You may find that you spend all night long increasing your Oxytocin.

Power up your Metabolism ~”The Everything Shake”

Create your own personal Everything Shake ! Drinking one of these shakes everyday will help you in a variety of ways. This is a great alternative especially when you are too busy to fix breakfast.  I feel like it keeps my body humming smoothly, reduces food cravings and keeps my weight down without really trying. Also, having a high protein breakfast gets my metabolism fired up for the day… And, no matter what else I do that day I feel like I’ve improved my nutrition for the day if I start my day with an Everything Shake. It’s always one of the things listed on my Fridge Checklist! Your Shake can be made in a variety of ways depending on your preferences. You can choose a protein powder that is either vegan protein or whey. Currently my favorite protein powder is Arbonne’s Vegan Protein Powder* made with rice, cranberry and pea protein. It contains 20 grams of protein, 20 vitamins and minerals, has a low glycemic index and is gluten free.  To find a Protein Powder that meets your needs, just read the labels. I always prefer stevia as the sweetener. Do not use juice in your shake as the main liquid. It’s just too high in sugar.                                     

   Peggy’s Favorite “Everything Shake”
 Combine 1 – 2 scoops of  Arbonne Protein Shake Mix in blender with  1 1/2 cups soy, almond or skim milk (calcium), 1/4- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries (antioxidants), 1/2 Tbsp Flaxseed Oil (anti inflammatory), 1/2 -1 tsp psyllium seed fiber (regulates digestive system) and a few ice cubes. I also add a probiotic to improve my immune function. The best probiotic is  bacillus coagulans found in Arbonne’s Digestion Plus  or in a product called Digestive Advantage. Create a shake that you love by using your favorite fruit and if you like  you can add a few spinach leaves for additional nutrition.  Have fun and use your imagination to create your own personal  “Everything Shake” with all of your personal favorites . Go out in the Rain and get Wet!

wpid-Rain.jpgGo out in the Rain and get Wet! On a warm Summer night, when it’s Raining … figure out a way to get out in Rain as naked as possible. It’s especially fun if you do this when it is Raining very hard. So the next time you hear a hard Rain, run outside so you don’t miss it. (Don’t go out in a thunder and lightning storm …of course.) Once you are outside remove all remaining clothes…if possible Then, as you are standing in Nature’s Shower run your hands all over your body to enjoy how silky your skin feels covered in raindrops. After the hard Rain slows down, find a comfortable place to sit. Spend some time becoming aware of how Nature enjoys the Rain. Notice how the rain drops hit the petals of a flower or fall onto leaves and gently masssages them. Breathe in the cooler, cleaner air and feel the overall “vibe” that surrounds you. . You can almost see the plants growing as the rain washes over them. You may notice that Colors are brighter and more vibrant. When the Rain stops you may become aware of  how calm and peaceful it feels. The world seems more relaxed and pure. It’s as if the plants and flowers are relaxing after their wild Sensuous experience with the Rain. When you are finished with your wild naked experience with the Rain, run into the house and turn on a Hot Shower. Climb into the shower as soon as it’s warm or for a different Sensuous experience just get into it when you first turn it on… As the shower washes over you can feel the heat of it pouring into your body. Use your favorite body products that are fragrant with natural flower essences. Stay as long as you like enjoying your shower, then wrap yourself up in a big fluffy towel or robe. Have a hot cup of tea and sit in a Sensuous Space and make a few notes in  your journal about your Sensuous Experience. You may also want to make a note of any messages that you may have recieved from your Inner Wisdom. Be sure to take advantage of hard Rain whenever you can to enjoy another Sensuous Experience with Nature.

“5 Minute Yoga”

The next time you think “I need to do Yoga”… Just do it. No matter where you are or what you are doing, chances are you could fit in this “5 minute Yoga” Routine. You can do it at work, while you are cooking or even while standing in line at the grocery 😉   And those 5 minutes of Yoga add up. If you can do  5 minutes of Yoga a day for a Year that’s 30 hours of Yoga each year … your body will notice. Just the act of doing Yoga increases your Body Awareness and tends to motivate you to pay attention to your Inner Wisdom and Sensuous Self. So find 5 minutes today for Yoga and share this idea with friends to help them become healthier and happier too! Standing Yoga Stretch This is a fun stretch that can be done almost anywhere.  Stand up and give yourself an arm’s length on either side of you.  Begin by rolling your shoulders forward 6 times, and then backwards 6 times.  Next, let your head drop forward, and then to the right, to the back, and to the left.  Then, repeat 2 more times. The Half Moon Series Intertwine your fingers, and stretch your arms towards the ceiling as you inhale.  Exhale as you stretch to your right, Inhale up, exhale to the left, Inhale up, exhale stretch to the back (tighten your butt), inhale again as you stretch up, and then exhale , bending forward and  stretching your fingertips towards your toes. Standing Spinal Twist As you come up, bring your arms straight out to the side at shoulder level, palms down. Keeping your arms at shoulder level, bring your right arm around to the front, and the left arm to the back. While keeping both arms outstretched… look at your hand in front of you for 5 seconds and then look at your hand behind you for 5 seconds. Then move your arms into the opposite position with your left arm to the front and your right to the back. Repeat the process of gazing at each hand.  Repeat 6 shoulder rolls, forward and back, neck stretches in 4 positions, three times, and then the Half Moon series again, followed by the standing spinal twist.  Repeat a third time, and you have completed your 5-minute Yoga that can be done whenever you have 5 minutes. Motivate Yourself with a “Fridge Checklist”

    I have always created lists on paper of things that I want to accomplish. Of course, I make these lists so that I will work on my goals and reach them… And then, sometime later, when I find the lists, I discover that I have worked on some of the items, but not all of them. I am not perfect and at times not very organized when it comes to reaching some of my goals.  😉  This is especially true of things that I want to do everyday to make me a Sexy, Sensuous, Healthy Woman. That is why I started my “Fridge Checklist”. A Fridge Checklist works really well…as long as I remember to put a new one up on your Fridge every week.
This is how it works… Create a list of the things that you want to focus on in your Journey toward becoming a Sexy, Sensuous, Healthy Person. Begin with at least three goals. Imagine the things that you would do every day (if you had unlimited time and energy) that would help you become the Sensuous, Sexy, Healthy Person you always wanted to be.  Make sure that your list includes goals for all three categories – Sensuous, Sexy, and Healthy.  Put these goals into a weekly chart, with goals down one side, and the days of the week across the top.  Then draw lines to make boxes. Make your own list that reflects what is important to you.  Start slowly, with just three goals . . . adding more as you go.  Put the list on your Fridge.  Seeing the list on your Fridge will help remind you to do these things every day, and that will help you reach your long-term goals.  Make a check mark each time you finish a goal.  Each check mark that you add to the checklist will get you closer to becoming the Sensuous, Sexy, Healthy Person that you want to be. You don’t have to be perfect.  Just try to get as many checks as you can each week.  You will feel good when you look at all of the checks and know that you becoming “The Person you Want to be” more and more each day. You can add any kind of goal on your Fridge Checklist. I sometimes put long term life goals on this list as a way to remind myself of them on a daily basis.
Here are a few examples of things to put on your Fridge Checklist…  Eat lots of Fruit and Veggies … Walk, Swim, Run, or Ride a Bike 30 min… Have Sex, or Think, Read, or Write about it… Spend time in Nature, Breathe, or do Yoga. The possibilities are endless!   Motivate Yourself with “Fridge  Checklist”.

Sensuous Salad

I am a self proclaimed Gourmet Cook, but I hate making Salads. . . . I used to think that I was the only really great cook who felt that way . . . but I was wrong.  Lots of cooks avoid the salad, even though there are thousands. . . . Okay, maybe hundreds of reasons to have a salad once or twice a day. So how can we overcome this easy-to-accept “No Salad Lifestyle” ?  My solution is to make the Salad first!  It’s also important to remind yourself to think about the fact that fresh and colorful means full of antioxidants . . . and antioxidants mean anti-aging, no matter what your age is.  Salads are not even hard to make and a non-cook, or maybe your sous chef (aka your friend or lover) can help make the salad. But you can design it.

 
Use your Inner Artist to create a Sensuous Salad.  First, you need to assemble Sensuous Ingredients.  

  You will need Organic produce, starting with lettuce.  Choose one or two varieties, and dark green is preferred.  After that, add other colors.  Choose something orange, pink, red, blue, yellow, and any other color you can find.  The more colorful, the better.  Be sure to use Organic Fruit and Veggies, if at all possible. If Organic produce hard to find…Learn how to grow it yourself.  You can find all kinds of information about growing food in containers in books, magazines and online.  So, if you want . . . you can grow your own Organic produce no matter where you live.  I myself have written many articles on this subject.  And, although you can grow an Apple tree in a container . . .  Strawberries and Blueberries are easier. Lettuce and Basil will grow well indoors in a sunny south facing window, and tomatoes and peppers will do well in a container on your patio. If you have never tried to grow food… be brave and choose to grow something that you love to eat.

  Once you have your ingredients, you can start to create your Sensuous Salad.  My favorite ingredients include Romaine and Bibb lettuce, strawberries, blueberries, thinly-sliced apples or Asian Pears, slices of carrots, slivers of red cabbage, fresh peapods and red bell peppers. There are always the standard salad choices of cucumbers, tomatoes, green onions, spinach and celery or not so standard additions like olives, artichokes, grilled zucchini, or avocado. The possiblities are endless. I always add pecans or walnuts, and my favorite cheese. Sometimes, I add homemade croutons made from toasted whole wheat bread, topped with olive oil and garlic. 

There are several ways to go with your dressing.

      Peggy’s Sensuous Salad Dressing

                  Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil

       Choose some really good Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil. You can buy flavored Balsamic Vinegars and Olive Oils which can be fun . . .  but, I love my 18- year-old Balsamic Vinegar, because it is very sweet and tasty.

 
      The proportions are up to you, but most dressings have more olive oil than vinegar. The most common ratio is 3:1 with 3 parts oil and 1 part vinegar. Once you have assembled your ingredients for your dressing, mix a 3 tablespoons of oil and 1 tablespoon of vinegar in a bowl. (You may need more, depending on how many salads you are making.)  Use your senses to determine your preference.  I like to add a bit of real maple syrup or local honey, a shake or two of turmeric, and maybe a bit of cayenne pepper.  You can also add any of your favorite fresh or dried herbs, like basil, thyme, or parsley.  Play with the ingredients until the dressing tastes good to you.  This will become your Signature Sensuous Salad Dressing. Connect to your Sensuous Self to create your own Signature Sensuous Salad  Dressing.

     When you are ready to eat, drizzle each salad with a Sensuous Salad Dressing. 

     Take a Food Selfie and share if it looks good!  🙂

     This is an excellent first course in your Sensuous Dinner. . . .  Or, you could decide to make it the main course by adding your favorite Veggie Protein sautéed with some onions and garlic, or maybe some grilled Salmon.

      Make a Sensuous Salad at every meal . . . or for sure, once a day.   Put it on your “Fridge Checklist.

      Adding more Sensuous Salads to your life will make you Healthy and younger looking… and help you stay in touch with your Sensuous Self. 

      Explain the concept of a Sensuous Salad to anyone who dines with you.  This will help your friends be as Healthy and Sensuous as you are!

Improve your Self Esteem…

 Take a Selfie… Seeing yourself in a photo often gives you a really good look at yourself. . . .  If you are analytical, or tend to be self-critical . . . You may have a hard time finding a photo of yourself that you really like.  The best way to have a photo of yourself that you love . . . is to take it yourself.  This is where taking a “Selfie” comes in.

      Pick a time when you are doing something that makes you happy . . . you will look beautiful.  We can all be self-critical about how we look at one time or another.  This starts at a very young age . . . especially for Women.  I work with teenagers in a psychiatric hospital . . . and whenever I talk with them about “Self Talk” . . . 90% of the girls report that they never say positive things to themselves, but instead they engage in Negative Self Talk. . . . They almost always say, “I’m fat, ugly, and stupid.” or some version of the same theme.

      We need to let go of that old way of thinking. . . . Say Positive, Beautiful Words to yourself. . . . Be your Own Best Friend!  This goes for Women of all ages.  Some Women never learn this important lesson. . . .  But it’s never too late!

      Do Fun, Sensuous Things, and when you are in the middle of doing something that you love . . . take a Selfie, or 2 or 3.  Take as many as you need until you find one you love.  Look at your photo, and tell yourself something that is Beautiful and Positive . . . like . . .

 “I am Beautiful and full of Energy.”

“I am Strong and Smart, and I can accomplish anything I want.  

“I am part of the Beauty that is Nature.”

“Every day I am becoming more and more like the ‘Person I want To Be’.

“I exude Positive Energy.”

“I am Creative, and express my Creativity in all of my actions.”

“I am a Sensuous Woman who brings Passion to everything I do!” 

      Create your own Positive Self Talk that feels good to you. . . . Say these Positive thoughts every day, and especially every time you hear yourself saying something Negative. Your Brain is listening, and it believes what it hears you say.  You may not believe any of the Positive Self Talk at first . . . But, if you keep at it, you will believe it soon!

      The only thing more powerful than Negative Self Talk is Positive Self Talk!
 
      So, celebrate your Beauty with a Selfie.  Think Beautiful, Sensuous Thoughts as you snap the photo.  Your Beauty and Positive Energy will make your face come alive.  

      Set your favorite Selfie as the wallpaper on your phone to remind you of the Sexy, Sensuous, Healthy, and Positive You.  And, every time you look at it, say something positive.  Before you know it, Positive Self Talk will become a part of you.  Share this idea with a friend. . . .
