Getting older? Learn how to stop waking up each day with aches and pains!

I believe that you can wake up every morning without aches and pains, stiff joints and low energy!

I am currently in my 60’s. I would have to say that as I got older, especially after 50 years old… I started to notice that every morning I woke up stiff and achy. I used to think that was what happened as you age and there was not a whole lot to do about it. And in spite of the fact that I have been doing yoga since I was 17 and have been a vegetarian on and off for most of my Life… This was still happening to me. The good news is that I figured out how to make it stop… and I want to share it with you.

Before I get started let me say that I’m NOT trying to sell you anything. Most of the time when I read this sort of stuff online there’s usually a bottom line that the person wants to sell you something and that’s not what this is about. And, what I’m about to tell you is not “New” news; however, I felt the need to share it with you because it has become extremely obvious that it works. And even though it will take some effort on your part, you really don’t have to buy anything special to make this happen. You just have to make some changes in your life!

I used to say, “I will never be a Vegan!” I used to say, “I’ll become a Vegan if I get really sick and my body needs to heal itself.”

Then one day, about 7 months ago I decided that inflammation was my enemy and I was going to do everything I could to stop it from taking over my body as I got older. Inflammation is responsible for heart disease, arthritis, and many more diseases too numerous to mention. A vegan diet reduces inflammation and can make you feel better. I believe this is true; however, becoming a vegan is not easy. I love cheese so I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to do it! I tried being a vegan just one week to see if I could do it. After just 1 week I realized that my aches and pains in the morning we’re going away. This of course made me want to do it more and I decided I would do it for a couple months and then get my blood work done to see how everything looked. Then the pandemic happened so I haven’t had my blood work done, but I can tell you that I have more energy everyday and I do not wake up in the mornings anymore with aches pains or stiffness! My knees don’t bother me…my back doesn’t bother me … my neck doesn’t bother me… and my hands aren’t stiff in the morning.

So I woke up this morning and I decided that I’m going to start writing more about this and helping others become vegans if they want to!

If you are serious about feeling better this is something you need to look into! I’m planning to start doing some videos about how to cook like a vegan… And I’m going to start blogging about it more regularly. The reason I woke up today and decided that I needed to do this was that yesterday I decided to eat some pizza and sugary bagel. Not sure why… But it was mostly because I had a busy day. The pizza and sugary bagel became available to me and I thought I would try them and it probably wouldn’t bother me just for one day. I was wrong! Today I woke up with stiff hands and felt achy all over. That’s a lot of proof when it comes right down to it. So if you’re getting older and you wake up in the morning feeling pretty yucky… becoming a vegan maybe something you need to really embrace. I know lots of secrets about how to be a happy vegan. I even know the best vegan cheeses and how to make dishes that make you feel like you’re a person eating normal food! The ECS and The Immune System

Did you know that the endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a large role in immune function?

It’s true! Ensuring your endocannabinoid system is strong and healthy could help ensure immunity is strong and healthy.

Here we’ll take a closer look at how the ECS supports immunity and how supporting the ECS might lead to a stronger immune response.

Understanding the Basics of Immunity

Before we get too deep into the endocannabinoid system and how it might help support immune function, it’s important to have a basic understanding of immunity itself.

To stay strong and healthy, it’s vital to keep toxins and pathogens as far away from making their way into the body as possible. This just so happens to be the job of the immune system.

One of the major roles of the immune system is to evaluate what’s “good” and what’s “bad” coming into the body. If something “bad” does happen make its way in, the immune system works to destroy whatever it is before it can do lasting damage.

When the immune system is healthy, it’s all systems go. Viruses and other nasty intruders are kept at bay or kicked to the curb before they can truly take a toll. On the other hand, a not-so-healthy immune system doesn’t have the defenses to keep these toxins out nor the strength to fight them off when they make their way in. This is why the flu and other illnesses can be so dangerous to individuals with a compromised immune system.

It’s suggested that one way to achieve a balanced state of healthy immunity and regulate immune function is through the endocannabinoid system.

What role does the endocannabinoid system play in immune health? Let’s take a deeper look.

Immune Function and the Endocannabinoid System

Referred to as the most important physiological system that exists, the endocannabinoid system is potentially responsible for a number of different functions including mood, memory, sleep, digestive function, metabolism, appetite, immune function and more.

At the most basic level, the ECS consists of the following:
° Two naturally-occurring endocannabinoids, anandamide and 2-AG.
° Enzymes that synthesize and degrade endocannabinoids, such as fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) and monoacylglycerol lipase
° Two cannabinoid receptors, known as CB1 and CB2.

CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors are both responsible for regulating the release of various chemical messengers. While CB1 receptors are primarily found on neurons, CB2 receptors are primarily found on immune cells. The number of CB2 receptors found in immune cells, for example, is 10-100 times greater than in CB1 receptors.

While research shows that the main functions of the ECS are to support homeostasis, emotional response and mood, cognition and motor function, it’s also suggested that outside of these central functions the ECS is also an important modulator of immune function.

How Does the ECS Support Immune Function?

Research suggests that endocannabinoids can modulate the function of a variety of immune cells through the signaling of cannabinoid receptors.

Immune cells are shown to express both CB1 and CB2 receptors, secrete endocannabinoids and have functional transport and breakdown mechanisms. For example, anandamide synthesis is believed to play an important role in the response of the immune system to cannabinoids.

A 2009 study suggests that the effects of cannabinoids on various immune functions tend to be temporary, allowing one to overcome the inhibiting effects of infection when the immune system requires activation.

Researchers suggest that the downregulation of cannabinoid receptor expression when immune cells are activated supports this.

Although the function of cannabinoid receptors on the immune system isn’t completely understood, it’s assumed that endocannabinoid signaling in lymphoid tissues could help control immune cell activation.

What Are The Effects of Endocannabinoids on Immune Function?

Endocannabinoids are suggested to be important in maintaining the “fine-tuning” of immune balance and play a big role in immune functions.
How exactly does it all work?

For one, endocannabinoids modulate the growth and death of certain lymphocytes, which are white blood cells that are also one of the body’s main types of immune cells and work together to defend against things like viruses and bacteria.

They also modulate inflammatory cytokine production. Cytokines are signaling molecules that are secreted from immune cells and play an integral role in the natural immune response.

Interleukins are a type of cytokine responsible for inducing fever, particularly interleukin-1.

Mary Clifton is a New York City cannabis researcher and internal medicine doctor who suggests cannabinoids like CBD should be used regularly to maintain sound health and avoid the symptoms of colds and flu.

“Around cold and flu season,” Clifton says, “it should be a supplement. You are already in a space to not get sick once you’ve been exposed to the virus.”

She says this is because CBD can affect the number of interleukins the body creates. Considering that endocannabinoids have shown to modulate cytokine production, it makes sense.

The immunosuppressive action of endocannabinoids on immune cells is mainly thought to be mediated through CB2 receptors by inhibiting cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), a well-known regulator of immune cell function. Research suggests that interrupting or enhancing cAMP effects has significant immunoregulatory potential in autoimmune disorders.

A 2003 study highlights that cannabinoids have shown to modulate several immune cell functions in both humans and animals, noting that the endocannabinoid system “might be exploited in future therapies for chronic diseases and immune deficiency.”

Can Supporting the Endocannabinoid System Support Immunity?

It’s clear that the endocannabinoid system plays a large role in immune function. Does this mean that supporting the endocannabinoid system can help support stronger immunity?

It might, but so far there isn’t enough research to say so. While the way the endocannabinoid system functions with the immune system isn’t completely understood, the ECS has shown to regulate cytokine production and inhibit immune system overactivity.

With what is known about the ECS and immunity, maintaining healthy ECS function certainly couldn’t hurt in the pursuit of a stronger immune system.

I believe that it is the same product and I find that a bit confusing because Young Living has Oils that are approved to use internally. I will have to say that I absolutely loved the product but hated the dropper bottles. They were hard to open. I wrote to them and they said they were working on it. You are the Architect of Your Life !

You can Improve every part of your Life  with your Thoughts! Or  you can destroy your Life with your thoughts. It’s important to remember that you have the power to create the Physical and Emotional Health that you desire by paying attention to your Thoughts. Your Thoughts are very powerful! I have always believed that you can change your Life by becoming aware of your thoughts, embracing Positive Thoughts and letting go of the Negative ones. And although it is true that you can’t control everything that happens to you, you can control your reaction to it. And that has an impact on your Health and Well Being.

Recently I have been reading a Book by Dr Caroline Leaf called “Switch on your Brain” and I wanted to share with you some of the information that I thought was fascinating.
The Book refers to the Mind Body Connection and how our thoughts directly affect our Physical Well Being.

~ Research shows that 75-98% of mental , physical and behavioral health comes from one’s thought life.
~ DNA actually changes shape according to our thoughts.
~ Research* shows that thinking and feeling anger, fear and frustration caused DNA to change shape.
~ Due to our thoughts and feelings the DNA responded by tightening up and becoming shorter, and switching off DNA codes which reduced the Quality of Expression.

“Quality of Expression” means how well our DNA does what it’s supposed to do and relates to which genes are turned on and off and how they well they work. All of that, in part, depends on our thoughts…   So when we say we feel shut down by Negative Emotions it kind of makes sense.
~ Negative Thoughts lead to Stress which affects the Body’s ability to Heal itself.
~ This can all be reversed by Positive Thoughts of Love, Joy and Gratitude.Becoming aware of our Negative Thoughts is the first step.  When you become aware of a Negative Thought, ask yourself if you can let go of it or reframe it. Sometimes looking for the Positive in any situation helps. Remembering things that you cause you to feel gratitude can also help you change that Negative pattern of thinking.  It’s very important to notice when you are engaging in Negative Self Talk or holding onto Negative feelings.  Just tell yourself to “Stop” and think of something that makes you happy or engage in Positive Self Talk…whether you believe it 100% or not. Positive Self Talk can be something simple  like thinking ” Everything is OK, everything is Fine.”  or  ” I am thankful for all of my Blessings.”  Positive Self Talk is very Powerful! And remember that giving Negative Energy to any situation, never helps and it can make you sick in both Mind and Body.

This also relates to messages that we give to ourselves… like…” I’m not very Sensuous.” Thinking of yourself as a Sensuous Person is all it takes to begin  to change that mindset…

Horizonal Dancing

To get ready for your Horizonal Dancing… take a hot oil bath with a few drops of your favorite Essential Oils, and a tablespoon or two of grape seed oil or olive oil. Inhale the steam filled with your Essential Oils and massage your body while you bathe. Spend some time appreciating your wonderful body, and what you can do with it. After your bath, put on some sexy lingerie, or whatever makes you feel Sexy and Sensuous.

Find your favorite music ~ the type of music that makes you want to dance. You may want to create your own collection of Dance Music. Be sure to play  your favorites that make you want to move. Then, get on your bed, strip down as far as you dare, and start moving to the music. You will be doing Horizontal Dancing . . . a new form of Sensuous exercise that we just created.

Wiggle and move your body to the music. If you are not ready to dance, just do a few stretches to help you get more in touch with your body. Close your eyes, and imagine that you are being stroked by a mysterious person. Do to yourself what you wish they were doing to you. Move your body like a hot, sexy woman who is in touch with her Sensuous Self. As you touch yourself … enjoy all of your body’s sensations. Feel your soft and sensuous, newly-oiled skin. Feel the strong lines of your body, and your soft silky hair. Invite your Lover to watch your new Sensuous form of dancing . . . Horizontal Dancing . . . and tell him that he can join in on the fun. Have him lie down next to you and do some Horizonal Dancing together. And remember… the most important thing is to have Fun and  get in touch with your Sensuous Self!

Additional Information: My favorite Essential oils for the bath are Stress away or Lavender and Orange. And I always use  Young Living Oils.

(Caution: be careful getting  into and out of the tub… it will be slippery!)

How to Help a Friend with Cancer… Give them Sensuous,Beautiful Healthy Food!

Of course there are many ways to help a Friend who has been diagnosed with Cancer. One of the most important things is for them to be able to talk with someone about how they are feeling… But, depending on your level of friendship and where they are emotionally, that may not be the best first choice.

Sending a message that you are thinking about them is usually appreciated and reminds them that they are not alone. But then what?

You may feel helpless and have absolutely no idea what to do. Cancer and depression often go hand in hand and energy levels can be depleted due to stress. Sometimes just taking care of basic needs may become too much of an effort for them. There are ways to help.

Food is critically important in the battle against Cancer. Sensuous, Beautiful, Healthy Food is one of the most important things that is needed to help anyone who is dealing with any severe health issue. A diet full of Fruits and Vegetables, Healthy Fats, low fat Dairy and lean Protein is essential to give a body what it needs to be strong and resilient… and heal well. Your friend may not have the energy to cook or even go to the grocery to get food. And thinking about a high nutrition diet may not even be thought about at all. This is where you can help!

Recently a few of my friends and I got together to create a new version of the “Fruit Basket” for a friend who was recently diagnosed with Cancer. It was a “Make your own Sensuous, Healthy Shake Basket”. That way my friend could have all the things that she needed to make a nutritious “meal” even if she did not feel like cooking.  The Basket included: A Nutribullet, Organic Carrots, Apples and Kale, Low sugar Almond Milk and a Bag of Arbonne Vegan Chocolate Protein Powder (with Pea, Cranberry and Rice Protein). I also included a box of Green Tea and a bottle of liquid Stevia. I suggested to her that drinking one of these Shakes every day and a few glasses of Green Tea … would be an easy way to provide lots of nutrients and liquids to her diet. The Nutribullet is amazing because it turns veggies…even carrots, into liquid. She was very happy with the gift. Of course any Fruit, Veggie or even Nuts can be used to increase the nutrient content. Berries and Bananas are also wonderful additions.

There are many ways to give food gifts to your friend. If you love to cook, you could prepare a healthy meal or something that could be frozen in portions for ease of use. You could also make a trip to your local Farmer’s market and create a beautiful basket of fresh produce. The possibilities are endless.

Helping your friend add more Fruits and Vegetables to their diet will help with healing because they contain Vitamins, Minerals, Antioxidants and other Magical Things.

Creative Visualization is also a powerful tool. This involves imagining your body fighting the cancer. There are many good resources online to explain how to…

And of course…be sure to get some Beautiful, Sensuous, Healthy Fruits and Veggies for yourself.

Chocolate for Breakfast!

So I was explaining to one of my friends last evening that the best thing  I do every day for myself is to a drink a Sensuous Protein Shake made with fruits and vegetables. That way no matter what else I do the rest of the Day, I know that I did one really wonderful thing for my mind and body.
The first step in creating your own Sensuous Protein Shake is to get a high quality protein powder.  Dr Oz and many experts recommend Pea Protein and consider it the best protein to choose for your protein shake. I get my chocolate protein powder  from Arbonne. Available from peggydurham.arbonne.com   It contains pea protein, as well as rice and cranberry protein, vitamins and minerals, alfalfa, Co 10 and ginseng.   I use almond milk and add berries or mango. That works well if you are using a blender but what is really fun is to use a Nutri Bullet.  I’ve been using one lately. It allows me to add a carrot, apple, kale or almost any fruit or veggie.  The Nutri Bullet pulverizes all fruits and veggies into a liquid. Pulverizing it makes it super healthy and highly available to your body.

You can make this shake really smooth and yummy by adding a half of a square of dark chocolate and a banana. Then top it with grated dark chocolate.

Always make enough for two and give half of it to a friend or Lover. Have your Shake for breakfast or for  two snacks. Eating or drinking protein throughout the day keeps your metabolism humming nicely!

Give and Get a 10 minute Massage

There is nothing better than getting a Massasge… I have been know to say this many times in my Life!  So Give and Get a 10-Minute Massage.  McMaster University researchers have shown that a ten-minute massage not only helps sore muscles, but also has an impact on inflammation-related, chronic conditions.  This is a great reason to give and get a massage.  Apparently, massage can trigger body sensors that send inflammation-reducing signals to muscle cells, and thereby reduce inflammation and speed healing.  Healing is promoted because massage tells the muscles to build more mitochondria, which are the “power stations” of the cells.  So, now there is another great reason for massage . . . not that we needed one.  

A shoulder massage is easy to give, and can be done fully clothed.  Just stand behind the person you want to massage.  Place your hand over the top of the shoulder, and gently squeeze the trapezius muscle that runs from the neck to the top of the arm.  Next, with your hands in the same position, reach down the back with your thumbs, and massage the muscles on both sides of the spine.  Move in small circles, or just reach as far as you can, and stroke the muscles up and down.  You can do this for a few minutes, and then take your thumbs and make small circular motions on both sides of the spine, as far down as you want to go.   After that, bring your hands back to the shoulders, and gently squeeze the large muscles at the top of the arm.  Then, run your hand gently down the arms to the hands, squeezing the arm gently as you go.  This works especially well if you are massaging your lover.  As you move down the arm, you can nuzzle your lover’s neck.  Ask your lover how it felt, and if he would like more.  You can start again at the neck, or see if he has any other requests.  You can also explain the information about how massage helps reduce inflammation.  

You can tell him that you feel that massage is so important that you are thinking about getting a massage every week, and you are looking for a hot massage guy to give you what you need.  Ask him if he knows anyone.  Tell him that you would be open to any kind of bartering.  Hopefully, he will catch your drift. You can be sure that he will understand what you mean if you touch him suggestively.  Tell him that you were told to pay for it, if you need to . . . but you prefer bartering.  More than likely you will also get a 10-minute massage. 

Get Off of the Sugar “Roller Coaster”

A Sensuous Woman doesn’t need sugar to be sweet! Sugar is sweet, but what it does to your body is evil. When you eat white sugar, your pancreas goes a little crazy.  The job of your pancreas is to send out insulin to help your body utilize sugar.  It takes one molecule of insulin to move one molecule of sugar out of the blood stream, and into a cell.  “The Roller Coaster Effect” happens because white sugar is an unnatural food.  What I mean is that white sugar is so processed that it has lost all of the vitamins, minerals, and fiber that were present in it when it was in its natural state. This unnatural substance (white sugar) causes your body to overreact. As soon as you eat the sugar, your blood sugar level goes sky high. At this point, the pancreas freaks out (because it’s job is to send out insulin to keep the blood sugar at a reasonable level), and it sends out too much insulin to take care of the sugar. What happens next is that too much insulin is produced, and it causes your blood sugar level to drop very quickly. And, when your blood sugar level drops, you feel hungry, and will often reach for something sweet to help you feel better quickly. Wow!  It’s easy to see how this vicious cycle is unhealthy for your mind and body.

 Sugar causes many health problems.  Here are a few:

~    Causes weight gain, and promotes fat production

~    Drives heart disease

~    Leads to metabolic syndrome and diabetes
          
~    Elevates insulin in the blood which can contribute to the development of cancers         

~    Is addictive, due to the high level of dopamine that is produced in the brain when you eat sugar 

The bottom line is that you need to avoid white sugar products as much as possible.

My solution is to use Stevia.  Stevia is the best sugar substitute. It’s extracted from the sweet leaves of the Stevia plant.  It comes in powder and liquid forms.  I prefer the liquid extract.  Some extracts contain a tiny amount of alcohol, so read the label, or buy the powder form if you want it to be alcohol free.  Giving up sugar is one of the best ways to become the Sexy, Sensuous, Healthy Woman you want to be.
