I have had high blood pressure, aka “Hypertension,“ on and off since I was 20 years old. After lots of investigation, it was determined there was no medical reason for the issue, and that it was most likely due to Stress.
So, one of my goals in Life has always been . . . to learn how to cope with Stress in a Healthy Way, and to do it as often as possible. I’m sure that this is something that has shaped my Life. Tension seems to be something I’ve been trying to figure out for years, and many of the things that I have tried have worked well. I started transcendental meditation back then, and my Blood Pressure was managed extremely well. But that’s another story. . . . There are many other things that I do . . . that relate to trying to be Less Tense or More Peaceful, like Yoga, Eating Healthy Food, Expressing Feelings, etc. And, I sometimes remember that worrying about it has the opposite effect. Yin and Yang . . . it’s all about Balance.
“Balance in Everything is the Key.” Almost Famous Quote

Most recently, I have been having some heart palpitations or PVC’s (Premature Ventricular Contractions). My cardiologist says that they are common, and usually do not cause any problem. And, if you have heart palpitations, you should definitely see a doctor about them first. Then what? I figured that there might be something I could do to make them go away. Of course, I had to read everything I could find on the “whys” and the possible solutions. So, what I have learned so far is that you need to check your Lifestyle, and look for triggers for the PVC’s. There are several possible causes which include caffeine, alcohol, exercise, high blood pressure, anxiety, or an underlying heart problem. It might also be related to a mineral deficiency in your Diet.
Our bodies are Electric, and the Heart’s rhythm is Electrical. It makes sense that if some of the minerals in your Body are out of whack, the Electrical System may not work as well.
Apparently, we are all a little low in Magnesium. And, Magnesium is the Calming Mineral. So, I’m pretty sure I’m low in that one. We have a problem getting enough of that Calming Mineral because of our Diets (too many processed foods, white flour, and sugar), and also because Soils are not as rich in mineral content like they used to be. Magnesium is important for so many reasons in our bodies, and low magnesium levels have been shown to have an impact on Depression, Diabetes, Asthma, PMS, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, High Blood Pressure, Heart Failure, Pre- Eclampsia, Colorectal Cancer, and Restress Leg Syndrome. In addition, Magnesium levels usually decrease after Menopause.
There are many things that contain Magnesium. Here is a list from Baylor University, where studies have been done concerning the benefits of Magnesium in preventing many of the Issues mentioned above. A diet with whole grains, and lots of fruits and vegetables is a good start.
|Rich sources of magnesium include:||Other good dietary sources of this mineral include:||Many herbs, spices, and seaweeds supply magnesium:|
Green leafy vegetables
Pumpkin and squash seeds
Whole wheat flour
Baked potatoes (with skin)
I eat a Healthy Diet most of the time, but I was still having Heart Palpitations. So, my plan was to take a supplement for a while to see how it works. I read all about which type of Magnesium to take, and the opinions vary. I decided to buy the magnesium supplement, “Heart Calm,” and have been trying it this past week. So far, my heart palpitations have stopped. I will continue to do my own research on Magnesium supplementation in my body. I have also felt more calm, and am sleeping better. Awareness of your Body is very important, and necessary for figuring out what works for you. . . . Be sure to check with your doctor before adding any supplement. Other supplements I take include a Multivitamin, called “Alive!” and a , “Omega-3”Fish Oil Pill by Body Vega.
I believe that one of the Keys to having a Happy, Healthy, Sensuous Heart is having enough Magnesium. Other things that you can do to improve the Magnesium in your Life, besides improving your Diet and supplementation, is to make Compost and grow Veggies in Rich, Organic Soil. You can also absorb a small amount of Magnesium by taking a Bath in Epsom Salts.
Please share this information with someone who might benefit from it. Let me know how increasing Magnesium in your Life works for you. I’d love to hear from you.
